Voxel Grid

A volume based 3D Represenation .

Similar to how “Pixels” are “picture elements”, “voxels” are “volume elements”. The voxel grid, is a regular grid that divides up the 3D space and can store attributes at every voxel.

Properties #

• Regular grid
• Can represent aribitrary topologies
• Easy to query/operate on neighbours
• cubic growth with higher spatial resolution
• for higher resolution voxel-grids, most cells tend to be empty
